Swanturbines has a patented technology which will lower the cost of tidal stream and exploit the £4bn UK tidal energy market. It works like an underwater wind turbine. The device is submerged so it cannot be seen and it only has one moving part so offers exceptional reliability. Our customers will be utility companies. Government pressure means the first sales are likely around 2011.

Swanturbines will sell complete devices. It will do the RD&D and sales and marketing and our partners will manufacture. We’ll also license maintenance and diversify into site development. The team is an 8 partner consortium led by Swansea University; renowned for world class research. Multinational, CB&I  brings engineering and management from oil and gas. NaREC bring electromechanical design expertise.
