TeamSwanturbines is a consortium of 9 partners led by Swanturbines Ltd. Multinational CB&I John Brown brings engineering and management expertise from the oil and gas sector. Ledwood bring offshore steel design capability. The other Partners bring experience and resources from relevant industry sectors. >> More about our partners The Consortium also has strong links with Swansea University which has a world-class R&D capability and a history of renewables development dating back to the early 1970s. >> More information on R&D James Orme and Ian Masters co founded the Swanturbines project in 2001. Ian has been a lecturer at the University of Wales Swansea since 1996 and specialises in the computer modelling of engineering problems, concentrating on marine renewable energy and novel recycled materials. He has managed over £1.2m of R&D projects to date. James’s work includes the development and testing of a prototype tidal stream device and projects investigating the effect of wave action and biofouling on underwater rotors. Matthew Thomson CEng joined the team in early 2005. He has breadth of experience working with Corus and Atkins has an MSc in modelling tidal turbines. |
